EtherHistory control and data tables The objects in RMON MIB are arranged in to many groups. EtherHIstory control and data tables are three of the groups. see RFC 2819.

This page introduces etherStatsTable, historyControlTable and etherHistoryTable used in most RMON monitors.

EtherStatsTable

Definition: The ethernet statistics group contains statistics measured by the probe for each monitored Ethernet interface on this device. This group consists of the etherStatsTable, which records the current stats (i.e., it is a data table).

In addition, here is its OID description.

HistoryControlTable

Definition: The history control group controls the periodic statistical sampling of data from various types of networks. This group consists of the historyControlTable, which records the stats history (i.e., it is a time table).

In addition, here is its OID description.

Moreover, historyControlTable also applies to Token Ring status. ( For details, see RMON1 groups )

EtherHistoryTable

Definition: The ethernet history group records periodic statistical samples from an ethernet network and stores them for later retrieval. This group consists of the etherHistoryTable, which records the previous stats (i.e., it is a data table)

In addition, here is its OID description.

Each row of the table contains different objects, whose discriptions can be seen from Descriptions of etherHistoryTable Objects.

Here is an example of etherHistoryTable from IBM Tivoli monitoring. ( For details, see IBM monitoring history table )
